A Deeper Dive – Workers Actually like their Managers

A survey by Pew Research collected data on how workers feel about their relationship with their managers.

In a media climate dominated by negativity, these numbers are somewhat refreshing. Only 20% of employees rate their managers as fair or poor, when asked about their relationship. The results do not vary much based on preference for their leader’s gender. although there is a slight preference for men.

Managers and subordinates actually get along.

The Details:

  • 63% say their manager allows balance between their work and personal life.
  • 56% say their manager gives credit when it is deserved.
  • 53% say their manager sets high expectations.
  • 52% say their manager is open to new ideas.
  • 50% say their manager is clear on expectations.
  • Only 44% say their manager is very good at helping them grow in their job or career.
